How much can you pack into 48 hours at Nobu Hotel Ibiza Bay?

More than you’d think when your agenda is to see and do as much as possible to truly experience the stunning island of Ibiza whilst staying at one of the ‘White Isle’s’ hottest new hotels.

Right from the airport pick up by luxury Mercedes with cold towels and water through to our departure, we felt so welcome and spoilt at Nobu Ibiza Bay.

The hotel was 100% full on arrival so we weren’t able to check into our room but were shown a courtesy area to freshen up, sample some amazing Bloody Marys and nachos in the very cool and beautifully styled lobby area while doing a spot of people watching – lots of beautiful people here!

We then headed to the Bay Marina for drinks overlooking the big boats coming in and out before heading to a recommended restaurant called Sa Nansa for the best paella ever.

On returning to the hotel we were able to check into our Deluxe Sea View Rooms overlooking the sea and pool area. Like the rest of the hotel, they are decorated in cool whites, creams and blues and although not huge are extremely comfortable with a large walk shower, small terrace with chairs to sit out and full entertainment system.  It is definitely worth upgrading to a suite for longer stays to gain more internal space and larger balconies.

We met at the poolside bar for pre-dinner drinks on our first night before the highlight of our stay, the tasting menu at the Nobu restaurant. Our delightful waitress brought Lychee Martinis to start before we ooh’d and aah’d through courses of Yellowtail Jalapeno Sashimi, Salmon Tartar with Caviar, White Fish Tiradito, Nigiri and Sushi cups, Tomato and Avocado Salad with Matsuhia Dressing, Black Cod Sakyo Miso (Nobu ‘s signature dish) and the piece de resistance; Grilled Beef Wagu Tenderloin – I have never tasted anything so good, melts in the mouth! Needless to say I slept well that night.

Breakfasts at the hotel are a lavish buffet with a freshly prepared eggs station at the beachside Chambao restaurant which also serves relaxed lunches including fresh fish dishes. For those on a health kick, there’s a gluten free café Celicioso open all day for fresh fruit smoothies, superfood salads and light dinners. For an alternative to Nobu in the evenings, also open for lunch, is the modern twist on Mexican Restaurant, Peyotito, overlooking the main pool. The poolside bar also serves daytime snacks to your sun lounger and the pool staff were very attentive.

Talking of sun loungers, the huge double Balinese beds around the pool are the comfiest I’ve ever laid on and unlike other hotels in Ibiza, there is no charge to enjoy these for hotel guests and the bar staff make a mean Aperol Spritz!

To summarise, I’d say Nobu felt effortlessly cool and serves some of the best cuisine I have ever enjoyed.  It is also important to share that within a short taxi ride, you can be in Ibiza Town, the Marina or some of the many beach clubs around the island and there is also a walk way all the way to town if you don’t mind a longer stroll.

Best Bits

  • Nobu Restaurant – Japanese food to die for!
  • Stunning sunset and sunrise from your balcony
  • Cool interiors
  • Huge poolside Balinese day beds
  • Walkway all the way into Ibiza Town

I can’t wait to return with by husband.  Kids are welcome – there is a lovely kids club and large separate family pool but I think it is a place to enjoy with your partner or group of friends. Thank you to the whole Nobu team for taking such good care of us!
